This may be the end of my buell.
My 06 Uly of 48k miles has been my favorite bike of all time, even with the numerous problems we are all used to. But today I'm beyond dissapointment.She started to misfire and stumble during my commute home today. I nursed her home by keeping the rpm up and slipping the clutch more than usual.Just as I hit my driveway
the throttle became useless. I took the air cleaner base off and to my horror I saw that the throttle shaft broke where it is fastened to the butterfly plate.
This may require the replacement of the entire throttle body, and I haven't even begun to investigate the original problem.
My saddest day as a Buell owner.
I may call it the end of an era.}

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but it would be a shame to give up on a great bike because a simple part broke

The shaft breaking has happened to a few members on here. Luckily for you, Tootal made an aftermarket shaft you can drop in to repair your bike without replacing the entire throttle body. Send him a PM to see if he still has some.

Thank you for the reply.
I've sent Tootal a pm regarding this problem. I'll see what he can do for me.

Are your breathers still routed into your airbox? Or did you convert to a catch can?

(Just trying to gather some anecdotal data.)

My breathers are still in the airbox.
I would like to know the trick to loosen the 1/2inch bolts at the intake flanges.
I can't seem to find the right combination of sockets,swivels or extensions that will fit in that space.

You say you havn't started to investigate the original problem ............. the original problem today sounds to me like the throttle shaft broke and nothing more ; ) ........ if you're lucky any small parts missing will have passed straight through the engine hopefully without causing further damage.

Use the cut down allen wrench that you originally sawed down in order to remove that one screw blocked by the frame on your rear rocker box from your 2000 M2.

If you don't have one, then clearly you need to go buy an M2. I'd say you need to buy one with a leaky rocker box, but no matter which one you buy it will be leaking from there soon enough. ; )
