can i replace the 08 VR with a better aftermarket one ? remember this VR has only two wires on it.

I don't think the VR's were really a weak point on the XB's. But yes, any of the two wire shunt regulators sized sufficiently for the stator output of the motor should work. These motors put out decent amount of juice, and you don't know if your heat sink is as good as the manufacturer wanted, so in terms of capacity you would want to get "one of the big ones".

You could change both stator and VR out to a different year.

i'm going to put a complete 08 engine in a 05 frame. I don't have yet the OEM VR for my 08 engine. That's because i'm asking for OEM 08 VR or perhaps a cheapest and better Mosfet VR
