Need a replacement carb for year 2000 M2.

There are multiple part numbers for CV40 carburetors, how different are they? Or does the part number specify also that specific configuration of jets, needles etc.?

Ignoring the needle, and jets, is there really any difference between the early Buell carbs and the later ones, for example?
