Guys and Gals,

Im trying to replace the neutral switch on my 08 XB12XT. Any suggestions on what tool to use to get into this tight spot? Service manual says I don't need to remove the front sprocket so I'm assuming there is trick to getting in there. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance!

I used a ground down socket to clear the front pulley. The switch is not tight at all and has only half a dozen threads.
I did it while I had the back wheel out and that allowed me to move the belt out of the way and that helped with access.
However, there is another home-made tool by Odd shown on this link and that doesn't need the belt removed.

The dimensions of my socket are on the same page but this tool is very clever and would be worth the extra effort to knock-up.

Great idea! Think I'm going try that this weekend.

Thanks!

I had my neutral indicator switch stop working too when i was playing around putting Vaseline into the 77 connector (i didn't have any dielectric grease on me at the time). Any ideas what i might have done to kill the indicator switch? I haven't replaced it yet and when i do i don't want to kill it a second time by mistake.

The connector is a push fit on the end of the switch - you didn't dislodge it did you?

It would be worth the couple of minutes to pop the pulley cover off and make sure the connector is pushed on.

I ran through the diagnostics according to the manual, pretty sure it's cactus. I'll double check before i order a new one though. thanks
