I recently purchased this bike after not riding for a while. Is fun to be back. The gear cover and timing cover have cosmetic damage from the PO. I believe the part number for the gear cover is 25778-04A. Is it possible to remove this assembly only, or is it necessary to disassemble the top end first? Thank in advance.

Nope. You will have to remove at least one rocker box to get the cam cover back on (and should really remove one before you take the cam cover off.
