Question: On previous posts I mentioned that I was blowing my key switch relay, well I've gone through 3 of them & the local bike shop only had to say "I don't know". So I am trying to find a common thread and here is one observation:
On occasion (prior to blowing the relay) the bike likes to try and hold idle at 2k (normally sits at about 1k) and the only way to calm her down is to hit the brakes until I bring it below 2k then she will settle down. Or I can just pull the clutch or hit neutral & wait a bit for her to calm herself down. Needless to say it makes for maneuvering in first or second gear rather touchy & jerky. What could be causing this? Being new to Buell's I was wondering if the race ECM just acts like that. OR is there anything the voltage regulator can do (when dying) to cause that?

I have gone over the schematic & the only thing I can find, on the lead that gets fried, that can cause that kind of a draw is the voltage regulator or possibly the fuel pump. (Other things on the same circuit; starter, turn signals, tail harness, headlight, clutch switch).

I did change out the 77 connector however I didn't have a proper crimp tool so this weekend I plan on taking it back apart & soldering the connections just in case a bad crimp is creating a draw there.

Next step if it fries again will be to change out the VR.

Next step after that....thoughts?

Thank you for trying.
