No experience with the Starcom1, but it looks huge and overcomplicated. Scala Rider G9 is compact, mounts to your helmet, connects with your phone, GPS, mp3 player, has built in FM radio, and can link to up any other Scala unit.

Not at all huge, about the size of a pack of smokes.

Just wanting to go hardwire instead of bluetooth.

Got my Starcom via ebay. real good deal at that. I have it up and running in my tank bag via a battery pack.
