Any old school buellers out there? It looks like its time to replace the front isolator on my 99 S3. Any advice on work I should do while I'm at it? Any recommendations for getting the replacement parts? Responses greatly appreciated! | ||

Caxl I got my front isolator from an ebay store called American torque $55 w/shipping or local dealer i remember reading a thread in here about an issue with the new bolts that come with the kit. As far as the motor goes i can't think of anything unless its leaking. If you haven't already check your rear isolators as well. You can get'em from American sport bike. | ||

Thanks for the response, Kusskid. I ordered the replacement isolator kit from the fine folks at American Sport Bike. I went ahead and got replacement motor mount bolts too, but haven't had a chance to get the work done yet. Did you replace your motor mount bolts when you replaced the front isolator? Did you have to replace the motor mount bracket, too? I've seen a few posts where those brackets eventually fail. Not fun... | ||

I replaced the isolator mounting bracket with the billet one from American Sport Bike when I changed my isolator. Nice piece, bullet proof and $$$. | ||

Yes, it's a very nice looking piece, and expensive is correct! I'm sure it's totally worth every penny, but I'm trying to avoid dropping that kind of cash if I don't have to. Just curious before you changed your front isolator, 5liter. How did you know it was time to replace? Was the rubber split? Lots of front end vibration? I'm assuming that's what's the cause of my excessive front end chatter on down-shift but not entirely certain until I get a chance to do the work. |
