Went to ride to work today and bike wouldnt start. When I turn the key on the gauge dials cycle but I don't hear the normal fuel pump "noise". The engine cranks but won't start. I have checked the fuses and all look good but which one runs the fuel pump? What else should I be looking for? HELP! |

so I spent yesterday just chasing wires and came up empty. The check engine light does not come on and I do not have a scan tool. so is there a way to hook the fuel pump directly to a 12volt source to determine whether or not that is the problem? I live about 200 miles from the nearest HD shop so any help is much appreciated. |

Does the check engine light come on when you toggle the kill switch? If no, it is an ECM issue, if yes, its a fuel pump issue.
ECM failures are fairly common on the Ulysses, the seat can contact the ECM resulting in the connectors cracking. |

Froggy, I also have this question going on the Dirty Uly side of the forums so feel free to chime in there as well. The check engine light does not come on when the kill switch is toggled. The bike will turn over and try to start but in the end it won't. And without a check engine light the dealer wouldn't be able to find a code anyway (correct?). So what Froggy says seems to make sense. I will try to verify that the fuel pump actually works today by hooking up a 12volt source to it. In the meantime let me know of some other places to search or if you agree with Froggy and why. Thank you. |

The check engine light not coming on means the ECM is not powering up, and the ECM is what turns on the fuel pump, so your pump is probably fine. If a dealer tried to plug in, they wouldn't even get no codes, as it wont connect at all. Either your ECM is broken, or the ECM is not getting power (bad ground?) |

Thanks Froggy. So, stock replacement or EBR. Still have stock exhaust so will the EBR make a difference? |

I have an EBR ecm with stock intake and exhaust. It runs great and works with the exhaust actuator. Highly recommended. |
