I have an 07 XB12S, a few months ago I put on a Hardiness gp-1 exhaust, and now the bike is backfiring and is redlining around 70mph. What causes this? |

Changing the exhaust will not change the rpm at which the bike redlines. Only a gearing change would do that. What gear are you in when it redlines at 70 mph? |

Fifth gear. And I didn't think so, but I'm not a mechanic. Also, it loses almost all power at that speed and will not pull past 80 mph. And I haven't done anything to the gearing |

If you are backfiring, you probably have an exhaust leak.
Put a gloved hand over the end of the exhaust and check the header at each cylinder for leaks. If you have a leak, it will be evident.
Also, you will need to match your new exhaust to your ECM. That will require one of two ways to accomplish this...
1.) Race ECM
2.) retune your current ECM by adjusting your fuel maps. |

XB12 Redline at 70mph
