I have a 2002 Buell Blast that has been running fine. Suddenly driving down the expressway at 65mph, I started losing power and I began feeling a miss. It got worse to the point I couldn't get over 40mph. Thinking it was a plug fouling out, I changed the NGK Irridium plug but nothing changed. I also checked the coil and coil wire which all met the specs on the ohm meter.

One thing I'd like to mention is when it starts cutting out, I hear this quick ticking sound that sounds like spark. Then again with a full helmet and a V&H pipe, I truly doubt I would know what spark would sound like lol.

The bike hasn't been giving me any trouble when it was damp or raining so I doubt it's the plug wire. It does seem to cut out with a miss at about 35mph in first which I believe to be the rev limiter doing that but it just seems a little lower rpm than I would expect to be normal.

I'm thinking it may the module or rev limiter but would like someone's advice who is more knowledgeable than I am.

Thanks, Dan

Ignition, probably, but rule out safeties, and the usual stuff, primary not tight, timing is good, make sure plug wire tight, rubber washer, washer, spring and screw is in fuel air idle control - I just bought a thumb screw version on sale, nice deal.

Thanks EZ! I shot a blast of carb clean on the boot and it nearly died so I purchased a super boot and intake kit. OMG! I've never seen such a huge difference with an intake upgrade! The only problem I have now is I'm hitting the rev limiter before the power curve. 1-2 rev limits at 33, 2-3 at 45; the intake change is still pulling strong enough that 1-2 would be comfy in the upper 30's and 2-3 closer to 50. I guess that's a good problem to have, huh?
