M2 Windsheild,

I have read the post from Adaleb, and I wish to take the windshield subject to the next level. I am seeking an aftermarket shield that will fit a 99 M2 without repositioning the flyscreen. Has anyone been a Guiena pig on this, and if so, what were the results? I have followed the advice of nearly everyone on the BBS to date with satisfactory results. This is a final detail item prior to trekking off into the mountains this spring. I am also taking a 4000 mile trip next spring, originating in Calgary, Alberta, and ending in Louisiana, so a good shield will be critical, Thanx.

Okay,

Here's some pictures of my bike with a new ZeroGravity (www.zerogravity-racing.com) windshield on it. (P/N 12-854). I ordered it from www.sporttwin.com for a cost of $74.95 sans shipping. My single experience with the folks at SportTwin was excellent and I will shop there again.

Anyway, was told by someone that some side shots of this windshield windshield would be nice. The bike is a 1998 S3T and the Windshield is the 'Tall' version of the one that ZeroGravity makes for my bike. I put it on last night and it works great! It fits just like I hoped it would and it WORKS just like I hoped it would.

If anyone has any questions just drop me a line, I would be more than happy to answer. Okay, now for the images...I hope this works!

DN:
Sure looks like this one: Sparky
or Stripe'r Z-G does make a fine product for a reasonable price.

Ccryder,

Is it just my eyeballs or are your 'bars higher and farther back than mine? That solid red windshield with the strip looks pretty trick too.

DN,
Just for grins, can you take a shot from the side of the whole bike? Just to see the profile. I'm curious how much the bigger screen changes the "flow" (looks wise) of the bike.

Thanks

Neil,
Thanks for the shots. I think I prefer the smoked screen over the opaque. They both look great but
I think the painted version draws too much attention to the front end instead of directing your attention
to the central "hooligan" part of the bike.
Just my opinion guys.
Don't get me wrong, anyone should be damn proud ot have either one sitting in their driveway.

I have two questions:
Has anyone adapted one of the Storz S1 license plate bracket kits to an M2? The tail light assembly appears the same between the S1 and the M2. (I'd like to get rid of all that black plastic in the back.)
Is there an easy way to mount an S3 fairing to an M2? I'd like to see what it looks like if it's not too much trouble.
Thanks

Roadhawgs:
No problem to mount the S3 fairing on an M2. All you need is some $'s to get some parts. Depending on what year your M2 is will depend on some parts. I have a parts list with MSRP on the parts just drop me a line.

This winter I dropped the S3 fairing on my 00 X-1 Race Stripe. Look up about 4 posts to the Snap red bike with the white stripes, that's Stripe'r

I've had my Dry Bags saddle bags for two weeks now..I'm very happy with them. They look great, are easy to get into, hold a bunch (to include a helmet) and they are COMPLETELY waterproof. Also, it is nice to be able to leave them on the bike and not have to mess with rain covers when I get to work every morning. Unfortunately, here in Hampton Roads you never know when it will rain..just that it will when you least expect it!!

Anybody have the scoop on the new tach kit for an M2 that is supposed to replace the now obsolete tach kit listed in the Buell catalog. Or should I go ahead & order a tach & dash off a 2001 M2?

Chutist747,
A while back (maybe January?) there was a thread going on the tach upgrade.
A number of us BWB'ers ordered the parts 01 and installed them on 00 M2's.
I have mine installed and it works great.
Very hard to beat for only about $100.00 or so.
The only downside I see is that the 01 dash sits a bit higher than the 00 version.

I found the thread, start by checking out this archive.

Does anybody know of any aftermarket fiberglass saddle bags for Buells? Specifically an S3 (without the T of course, why else would i be lookin' fer bags that are already on the bike?:)
Even fiberglass bags that aren't specifically made for Buell... I wouldn't mind a mod or two.
Kits to add them from Harley/Buell run over 1K. Don't wanna spend quite that much. :(

Please don't beat me, but does anyone have any suggestions for a Throttle Lock (i.e. Cruise Control) for a '98 S3T?

Gonna take some long trips with her soon (Read Ironbutt) and I believe this would be kinda handy!

Thanks for any suggestions...

Tat at American Sport Bike, a Badweb sponsor, has the niftiest high-tech throttle lock called a Throttlemeister. It mounts inside the handlebar on the right and has a rounded knob that looks like a bar end weight. Rotate it forward, I think, and it holds the throttle. There's a matching weight for the left bar end. It's not cheap but then this was designed for the BMW guys, so it's a quality unit. A side benefit is that you don't have to invest in bar end weights to soothe bad vibes.

Thanks Sparky,

I just got my catalog from ASB last night and saw the throttlemeister throttlelock you are talking about. Will probably order one before the big roady next month. Thanks for the reply!

Blake,

You told us all of your Ventura rack in March... now a question. Can the Ventura be used as a backrest? Will it support a person leaning against it, either lightly or heavily? Grab rail?

All,

Has anyone tried the new Buell M2 seat? Any comments from passengers?

My g/f slides down the stock M2 seat, and I'm tired of crushing "the boys" against the tank. I'd love a Corbin gunfighter and lady w/ backrest, but I figure I can upgrade my seat AND get the very functional Ventura for about the same price. Thoughts?

Bored:

I keep the grab rail installed unless I'm touring and take it with to swap with the rack as soon as camp is set. The rack is not designed as a backrest and the documentation warns against using it as such. I've often thought that with the next size larger tubing the rack could work as a back rest though. The mount is way sturdy.

BTW: Here's my Buelling/Camping accessories/packlist promised long ago. I'd like to see Court's list!

Not sure why, but when I PDF'd the Word document only the one (first) hyperlink took.

Check out http://www.rei.com and http://www.campmor.com for excellent selection and deals on camp/pack stuff.

Man, I wanna do another two week+ tour!

Excellent, thanks for posting the list Blake. I just recently got a pair of RKA saddlebags (Thanks Jim) and am building my escape/ride kit. Piece by piece, and little by little, one day I too will hit the dusty two-week trail.

I must be tired if I'm trying to write verse. Good night, I'll stop, before it gets any worse.

Has anyone tried a wind shield on a M2. I tried to install a cheap one from Whitney's but it did not fit right. Are there other brands that may fit near the light and be a bit more accomadating.
