Everything great then I added gas and the fun ended. Bike started running rough and wouldnt idle, I had to keep working the clutch and revving the engine to keep it from stalling. I drained the gas , put a K&N air filter and new plugs . Test drove it and still wanted to act up. There is no torque and I noticed I couldnt get the RPMs pass 4000? It just looses power and wont go pass 60mph. It almost feels like it wants to and if it did it feels like it would just jump. Thinking about pulling the Fuel pump and checking the filter and just wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts.( do you need a special tool to pull pump/) I also keep reading about the ECM spy - what is that do I need it and how do I get it.Thanks

Examine your ECM for cracks. There is a location issue with them. The old free ECMSpy program won't work for you, you have to buy the new program from them - and get a cord to hook your computer to the jack on your bike. A EBR racing module is a worthwhile upgrade.

I checked the ECM and no cracks or anything. There's also a strong gas smell , seems to be running rich.

Lets just look at what started it. You added gas. If it had water in it the water will sit in the bottom. If you drained it you could still have H2O in the bottom. Was it gas from a can or pump gas? Try some gas additive to absorb the water and it still will not run great, but better. You could run some of the gas into a clear cup and see if after it settles you have water in it as it will stratify.

It was gas from a pump. I added 1/3 of a can of seafoam and test drove it today . In first gear it still pops and spits, better once I get on it and still stalls out when I slow down or stop, but did have torque and did go beyond 4000 rpms. Its fighting to idle a lot more than before I put the seafoam in but still stalls . I agree that's it's a fuel issue , just don't know whether it's water in the tank or a fuel pump or filter problem . I'll take it out again tomorrow and burn some gas , refill , add more seafoam and see what happens. If that doesn't work then I'm pulling the fuel pump next weekend. Hopefully more riding next weekend and not wrenching. I'll keep you posted on my test ride tomorrow. Thanks for all the advice!

A quick update! Overtime a half bottle of seafoam and more than a few miles seemed to have cleared what ever the problem was . 1st mile or so was a lot of pops and spitting but after was a lot of fun. Let's hope it's stays that way for all of us . Thanks again for the help!

If you pull up and there's a tanker truck unloading go to the next station.
