Author Message   Roam Posted on Monday, March 05, 2012 - 10:45 pm:        I changed the fan on my Uly now it wont start. Cranks over fine. All lights, and fuses are good. I tried the de-fouling procedure where you turn the switch on with the throttle fully open and it seems like the bike is blinking a code when I do this. 2-1-4- Solid light. Also when I just turn the key on the CEL comes on for a few seconds and then turns off. After a few more seconds the light comes on and stays on which would indicate a current CEL issues but the last CEL in history is 36 which would indicate the fan which I just replaced. Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks, Hugh   Reepicheep Posted on Tuesday, March 06, 2012 - 07:53 am:        I assume you rotated the engine down to do the fan? Did you reconnect the throttle position sensor? What about the intake air temperature sensor? Plug wires on? Coil connected? I'm assuming you didn't disconnect the fuel line.   Terrys1980 Posted on Tuesday, March 06, 2012 - 08:45 am:        Why would you rotate the engine down? All you should have to do is unbolt the shock. Unless the Uly is different than my Firebolt.   Roam Posted on Tuesday, March 06, 2012 - 09:09 am:        I didn't rotate the engine. I removed the battery tray, under tail and comfort kid shroud to access the fan. While I had the battery and old fan out I hooked up the fan directly to the battery to see if was really broken. The fan did run so I put a 10amp fuse inline on the positive line and tried the test again which burned out the fuse. I wonder if hooking the fan directly to the battery could have affected the battery. OTOH the battery has no problem turning the motor over.   Reepicheep Posted on Tuesday, March 06, 2012 - 02:01 pm:        Good info! I thought you had to rotate the engine to get the fan out. If you pulled the battery tray, then I'd be checking battery, bank angle sensor, and ECM connections. And make sure the bank angle sensor is back in correctly.
