Well I just dropped off a stock header and muffler with the bracket for my M2L to get them ceramic coated with the shiny silver color. I always wanted to do it to the stock muffler and had some other bike parts to get powder coated anyway. The business did some work for a friend of mine and did a super job on his. I also have some parts at my Brothers as he recently started nickel plating small parts. He will be doing the headlight bucket and the 2 bracket mounts. I'll post pictures when done. If I can figure how to make them small enough that is. | ||

Than you Bluz but the pictures are not even close to what they really look like. I am so glad I had it done and I hope they last. I think the coating is great for color retention for hot parts but you have to be careful about scratches I think. It was a pain to get it all lined up by myself and avoid scratches on the coating. I had to line it all up and tighten the bolts up all around. The last was the clamp joining the 2 ends. I really like the stock configuration but I had to change a couple colors. Just waiting for the snow to melt and rain to clean the salt and sand from the roads | ||

Very pretty. Wish I had the dough to do the whole kit. I love the color of the heated stainless, but it does get hot. I bought a ceramic coated header on eBay for about $175 (cheaper than it costs to get the header coated.) I finally put it on last week, and rode it to work the last couple days. I kind of minorly scratched the surface installing it, but it's not a 'show' bike after all. What amazed me is, after riding it home (12 miles @ 85 mph) I could hold my hand about 5/16 of an inch away from the header well, indefinitely, without it feeling too hot. I was afraid to actually touch it, but the uncoated header one can't put your hand that close to the header for long without really feeling the heat. It is just amazing how much less heat emanates from the pipe. Since I'd taken off my heat shield long ago (for looks) I'd get the old thigh-roast once in a while, but now anticipate that to be a thing of the past! Way cool... |
