I recently put a new exhaust and re-jetted the carb and my bike wont run now. After lots of work and finally determining that the carb is fine...I removed the electrical plug and noticed there is another needle (?)Im so outta my league here.. have friends who i call for advice but im geting nowhere and thinking this may be electrical now. Its black and sooty around this hole in the plug... I do know for sure i have some kind of electrical short in the key switch, i have to wiggle it to get fire sometimes. The bike will sometimes start but wont idle for long and no throttle at all or it dies. thanks for any help

can you post a pic of this "electrical plug w/ a sooty needle".
my first thought is your talking about the enrichener valve/cable.
you need to make sure its seating when you install it or you will be running w/ the "choke on". This will cause it to load up and stall and also die if you give it throttle.

I would first replace the ignition switch to remove that from the mix. Especially if you know it is bad as that can cause quite a few different problems. Al may have one at American Sport Bike
