Thanks, Jomartijr

How do we go about loading Jomartijr's results to our chart - I'm not all that computer literate.

Thanks

Someone with admin rights will have to put it in the announcement chart. Oh, and I left off the field for the sample mileage last time. It is there now.

I've been following the oil report and crank failure threads for quite a while now, because I had been hearing a tick/slight knock down low. The noise calms down a little with some heat in the motor. I sent in an oil sample before this thread started in August, and thanks to or trusty postal service, it took a month for them to receive it. I'm not sure how to use the chart that's on this thread so I'll just attach the results, and if someone wants they can add it to the chart. Compared to the other test results, I don't believe I have any thing major going on down low. I'm still not sure what the noise is, maybe it's a lifter hanging up?

By the way it's an '06, 19000 mi., and build date of Dec. '05.

Can we get the oil type on the chart as well? I'd like to see if, say, Amsoil generally ends up with less silver than Valvoline.

I'll do that on my bike anyway... I have valvoline in there now (it was on the shelf), will get it analyzed 2100 miles from now, and will switch to Amsoil, then get it analyzed.

Some were understandably wanting to keep the amount of info on the table as simple as possible, so I took the oil type off by request. But it has remained part of my own table that I am keeping, so here it is again.

Johnboy, I put you as SYN3 because that is what it said you used in your profile. Let me know if I need to correct this.

Just got my report... Already running amsoil now, it will be interesting to see what the next report shows.

Let me try and remember how to update the page header with the latest table, in the meantime use this:

Now tracking updates at top of page, and moved into knowledge vault.

C'mon XB12 owners, do some oil analysis!

The crank is still together, but until recently the bike had been broken down for so long with other maladies that I have only put about 1500 miles on her since my oil analysis. I wish we had some oil analysis figures for people who had crank (or any major engine failure) before their failures occurred. It would be interesting to see if there would be any real sign of impending doom.

More a pragmatist at this point... Look at the chart at the top of this page:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/648773.html?1338346801

Look where my VIN is... 6 up from the bottom, dead in the middle of a cluster of failures. I'm not positive what the root problem is (bad heat treating of cranks? bad bearings?), but whatever it is, there is pretty good chance its wrong on my bike also.
