I had a tick that sounded like a loose rocker arm (Tick more as revs went up), tore the bike down and dropped the engine. Looking through my service manual i can not find the specs for the valve lash. Any info is appreciated.

Hydraulic lifters= no lash.

Some ticking is normal for an XB, tuber engine noise is some times described as a roll of nickels dropped in a running blender.

Could also be an exhaust leak. Comes from same general area, and can sound quite like a "tick"

HAHA, Thanks Jramsey. Yes the dipstick. I do know a little about engines as i work on my BBC c-10. I did notice the nuts are shot on the exhaust seats, possible cause. I did get to wrap the headers also.
