Here's the problem; Irene filled my garage/basement with ~40 inches of water (I was forced evacuated while this was happening). Just finished draining the crankcase of my Suzuki Bandit (had 5 gallons of water inside). I've drained the primary on the Buell XB12ss (half water half oil). Also drained the swing arm (all oil). Still have to remove the plugs and drain the cylinders. Is there anyway to drain the crankcase (I suspect there is water in there also). Thanks | ||

Pull the timing inspection plug for the crank (cam side top of crank case) and lean the bike over? | ||

Above the muffler there is a drain plug, Got about a gallon and a half of water out of the crankcase. Removed the plugs and cranked out the water. Shot some ATF into the plug holes and cranked it over. Plan is to remove the oil return to the swing arm, fill swing arm and gearbox with ATF and crank without plugs until clean ATF flows out the return. Then drain and fill swing arm and gearbox and fill both with engine oil. Crank until clean engine oil comes out the return line. Then reconnect everything and attempt to start. Not sure when I will get to it since the train tracks were washed out and my commute is now two hours instead of one. |
