I bought a 2000 buell blast a little over a month ago. It needed a little work and hadn't been riden hardly in about two years. It ran fine for the short time I was getting use to it and on the way to the shop it started backfiring and stalling out when I was on the throttle. They cleaned the carb changed the fuel line and fixed an oil leak. I started down the road and for about two miles it did fine then started with the same symtoms. I went back and they drained the tank applied fresh gas and same results. I retrieved the bike when they told me just to buy a japanese model. Since I have changed the battery, coil, intake boot, re-cleaned the carb, new air filter, timed it staticly, new plug and scratched my head alot. The auto enricher is functioning as well. I did notice a small discrepency on the outside edge of the rubber on the vacuum piston, but I'm not sure if it's past where it seals at. I am going to order the part any way. The auto enricher is functioning as well. I'm at a loss, if any one has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. And sorry for the lengthy post, but I am a new rider and I want to ride my buell!

Idles fine, only has trouble when you are "on the throttle" after it has warmed up?

Does the Blast have a cylinder head temp sensor?

How about a kickstand safety switch?

Check/verify integrity of electrical grounding strap(s)/wires.

A faulty cam position sensor has been known to produce the symptoms you describe.

Lastly, the ignition module.

"they told me just to buy a japanese model"

Ditch them and don't look back. Find a proper motorcycle repair shop with people who take pride in their work. Some independent shops are absolutely wonderful in that respect.

Let us know what you ultimately find. Sure would be nice if you could find a local Blast rider who would be willing to swap parts with you to try and diagnose the problem.

Idles fine, only has trouble when you are "on the throttle" after it has warmed up? yes, one thing I didn't mention was the carbuerator "coughs" as well.

Does the Blast have a cylinder head temp sensor? Don't know, I will have to check the manual.

I know that it has a kickstand safety switch. I'll disable that.

I start working through this stuff and post what I find. Won't be for a couple days though, I am outta town for the long weekend.

Yeah, not using or recommending that shop to anyone.
Thanks for the help

sorry for the delay in response, I haven't had time to do anything with with my blast. As a consequence of this I have dropped my bike off to a friend who has been formally trained to work on Buells. As soon as I hear back from him I will repost and let you guys know what the problem was
