2007 XB9SX. There is a bulb socket between my headlights, but no bulb was mounted in it when I got the bike. Should there be? What would it's purpose be if it was there anyway?

Euro parking light... There is a special ignition position where you can leave that light on but have the keys out. You can find the bulb at the bigger auto parts chains, there are threads on the topic here somewhere.

It was actually handy when I put in a HID and had a 60 second delay relay on it. I would have that light until the HID kicked on. It projected a cool X pattern on the garage door as well, so it was kind of like an XB9SX "bat-light". : )
