As the title says, after a recent trip loaded down, I adjusted the preload back to minimum with the adjustable rotary knob but it stayed on max preload. Anyone else encounter this? Is there a way to back it off without removing the entire shock for repairs?

Should be able to adjust it in place at the shock similarly to most rear shocks with adjustable preload. Just may take some patience to figure out how and to find the tool for the job.

Let us know what you find.

Exact same thing happened to my '08 Uly lat week (36,000 mi.) I went on a 2,000 mi. trip loaded down. When I got back the preload would not adjust (no resistance on the adjustment knob until 14 full turns). I took it to the dealer and last Friday they told me the shock needed replaced (not covered by my extended warranty). $450.00 for the shock. It's still in the shop, I want to talk to the tech first - unfortunately, I'm skeptical about their diagnosis. I'll let you know what I find out.
