We have a 2001 500cc Buell Blast. It will start fine when it is cold. But if it is shut down and tried to re-start. It has no spark. It will only have spark again once it has cooled down. |

I would try testing the coil when it is hot and then cold first. |

Pull the inspection cover off of the ignition and when it won't start take a look at the led and see if it illuminates when turning over. It will, from what you said if it starts cold, but if it gets hot, it may not. If it doesn't, you'll need a new ignition module. I have a 2001 also, and they are notorious for "original" modules going bad. They have since changed vendors and the modules seem to be better. My new one has been in for 8000 miles. It will run you close to $200 but will be worth it. |

I believe it is your ignition. (Black Box)This has been a problem with the Harley's for a long time. Unfortunately the only way to check it is to replace it with a known good one. I have even had one that would stop working when the outside air temp dropped below 40 degrees. Before that one I had never heard of it before. Normally they get hot and quit. |

Thanks, Johneblast, I stand corrected. I learn something new everyday here on the BadWeb |
