hey everyone,

Just bought a 2000 x1 and was wanting some general maintenance help. It came with forcewinder intake and filter, race ecm, vance and hines pipe, and penske shock. i was wondering what are some issues with this bike and what are some things i should look at before putting some decent miles on it and not having it break down or any problems. It has been using a lot of oil and not sure what the problem could be.
Any info appreciated! thanks

good choice on bikes.
make sure your exhaust hardware is tight and the mount bushing isnt worn out.
make sure your forward engine mounts are in good shape. (had mine break! not fun)
other than routien general maintenance thats all i can think of for now.
id advise to go to the "old school" forum. it is very active with a ton of helpfull folks.
and most deffenately get a service manual and parts catalog. you will be your own and best mechanic. your now officaly a "redheadedstepchild" of the motorcycle world. the harly tec's wont want to touch your old tuber.
