I just replaced the battery on my '06 Ulysses, and now I have battery problems. The new Yuasa is designed so that I cannot screw the positive cable down flat. I'm wondering what kind of replacement battery others have tried successfully. I'm looking at a Bikemaster TruGel online--it looks better designed. What do you think?

Some of the batterys come with a set of little brass stand-offs that space the cables lugs out a little for clearance. I found out after the fact on my last replacement.. Doh..

Deka ETX-14, relabeled as Partsmaster by a local distributor, these are great. I believe the Big Crank is also Deka, and the HD battery. AGM, high quality, USA made, etc., and I like the extra threaded taps in the terminals.

hey this is my first post on here actually on any forum for that matter. i read forums alot for different things like cars and motorcycles etc... but this will be my first post and im obviously a noob. i have a 2000 blast that i bought last night for $800 got it fire with some starting fluid so i pulled and cleaned the carb (thanks for the info on doin that) but now my battery is dead and wont hold a charge so im thinking battery is bad. so i went to walmart which is where the battery is from and a new battery for it is $80!! my question can i find a cheaper one? why is this one so expensive when most of the other motorcycle batteries around $40? is it just different cranking amps or different size or what? any help or a direction would be great. im trying to get on the road as cheap as possible

It does sound close though because it takes a lot of current to rotate one of these big twins around. I know because my old 74 super glide only had a kick start. That was a 1200 and the Buells are 1203.

Try "BatteriesPlus" if you have a location close to you. Good prices, I am convinced that most if not all of these batteries are made by Yuasa and branded to different sellers. Had one for 2 years now and no problems. The one I needed was $130.00 at the HD stealership and was around 60.00 at BatteriesPlus. Also check their website first and you can usually score a coupon for 5 or 10 more off the price.

The factory battery is a well made absorbed glass mat cell. It lasts well. Those wal mart and auto-zone batterys are junk... I used them in a kids quad, and a KLR-250, and they were lucky to last even 1 season.

hey thanks kilroy i ended up convincing walmart to just give me another battery for free! they dont really know there own return policy haha. so i got the bike started but will only start cold with starting fluid, once its warm then it will start without so im assuming the auto enricher is toast. plus im pretty sure the clutch safety switch is goin cause you have to pull the clutch about 5 or 6 times before it will let you start. i was also reading about the diodes in the fuse box is there a way to tell if thats the issue?

Maybe it just has a bit of grit in it. Did you try a couple squirts of plastic safe contact cleaner on the switch pin?
