Any info is greatly appreciated. My '00 Blast is in great condition, low miles and regularly maintained. Local HD dealer who sold me the bike (2 yrs ago) is getting balky at servicing and holds my bike ransom while awaiting parts. So I hesitate to take it in without a good reason. Problem: Bike does not start. Lights and horn fine. Nothing when I hit the starter. Battery charged. Happens sporadically, seems fine when bike is warm. I've made sure the bike is in neutral, kick stand is up, kill switch is off, full tank of gas and not on reserve. Ridden the bike over the winter with same starting problems. I just try to start it and when it finally does start, I ride. No carb problems, bike rides great when it chooses to start. If part is suspect, I at least can order it to prevent a 2 to 3 wk period without my bike because it is sitting at the dealers. I did read forum, and don't see same scenario, so any input will help me. Thanks.

Are you squeezing the clutch? My first guess would be the clutch safety switch is stuck or broken. You can bypass it, pop the seat off at look at the fuse box, there is a diode in the middle, put it in backwards.

Yes, always use clutch with starting.
I think you got it right. I pulled the middle diode, however I can't seat it into the box upside down, so tried starting with the diode completely out. It cranked right over, but didn't start.
What do you think?

By backwards I meant with the arrow facing the other way, not upside down. : )

As for why its not starting now, that is a long list, my Blast gets in its moods and it won't start either sometimes. I don't know a fix yet other than converting to fuel injection, which I will do eventually.

Thanks for getting back to me. I did reverse the diode, it cranked (with gusto) and started. This problem sucked..... Thanks for getting me back on the road!
