About 3-4 months ago I stripped the drain plug following the 29-34 ft/lb in the damn owner's manual. But I digress...

The bike has been sitting since then because a lot has gone on in my life. Yesterday, I ordered a TimeSert kit to repair it and bought an expandable rubber plug to use until the kit comes. It's been sitting over an oil pan because the plug is dripping so I have no idea how much oil came out.

I put a quart and a half back in because that's about what drained out when I pulled the plug. The rubber plug works fine for now.

I rode to work this morning, and once I got off the interstate the oil pressure light started to flicker at idle. It went off the second I touched the throttle and wasn't making any tapping or knocking noises. Did the same thing on the way home.

I started it in the garage and looked in with a flashlight- it's pumping oil just fine and the light wasn't on. As soon as I screwed the dipstick in, the light came on. Take it out and it goes back off.

I know there's nothing mechanically wrong, so my questions are:

Could it be overfilled? Nothing is blowing out of the airbox on my leg.

Could it be a filter with too much restriction? It has a NAPA/WIX 1394 oil filter on it now (first time I've used them).

It's just odd that the light went out as soon as I took the dipstick out.

Sorry, I have no info but I just wanted to thank you for fixing mine!
My oil light would not go out after an oil change. I loosened the cap while it was running and the light went out.
I was ready to tear into the oil pump!

I have little to know idea what the heck it was all about but I'm glad it's over.
Thanks again.
