Seems I remember a post from about a hundred years ago regarding using dental floss to remove 3D letters. Does this ring a bell with anyone, or what's the technique?
Thanks

Dental floss has been used as well.

If you get in a bind one of the Buell painters has started doing painting and restoration of Buell and I'm sure he could help.

The minty kind works best!

Just use a length of it, get under the letters and gently saw away pulling away from the tank and towards the letters. They come right off.
When you clean off the residue, be careful which solvent you use. Some will attack the paint as well.
Goo Gone works if memory serves. I think it's mostly naphtha. It's been a long time since I did it, don't remember which solvent I uses..

Thanks for confirming. Every once in a great while, my small memory does serve me right.

Now that I'm on a roll, what would be properly sticky to re apply them with?
Thanks
