So I am riding down the road come to a stop light all is fine. I pull away from the stop light the bike starts bucking, like is was misfiring, then completely dies. It wont turn over now I went and bought a brand new battery so that's not the issue. Could it be the spark plug? This is my first bike so I am new at working on it, though I did have to replace the gasket between the carb. Any ideas of what my problem could be? I am thinking also possible transmission problem? I can't get in to any gear besides 1st 2nd and 3rd when sitting on the bike while it was not running. PLEASE HELP

The bike won't turn over at all? Have you tried to start it in neutral and with the clutch pulled in?

Yes. I tried that. I also pulled the plug it sparks fine. The engine tries to turn over won't kick over. I read somewhere about an ignition module might cause this problem. I don't exactly know what that is.

I sprayed some starter fluid into the carb then I tried to start it it turned right over then ran for 5 seconds then died. Do I have a problem with the carb, is it not getting fuel?

Sounds like you are not getting fuel. Dumb question, but I assume the tank has fuel in it? What about the petcock- it is on reserve, on setting, maybe off? Try shutting the petcock off, pull the fuel line off of the carb and then turn the petcock back on- are you getting fuel to the carb? If you are getting fuel to the carb, you may have a clogged jet.

Spark, air, fuel. That's all you need. Definitely not a transmission problem.

There is fuel in the tank. I tried starting it in on and reserve same problem. I will try pulling the fuel line to see if fuel is getting to the carb.

Spark, air, fuel. That's all you need.

Don't forget compression.

Has the bike been sitting for a long time? If so, you could have bad fuel, or water in the tank.

I tried to get the line off the carb seems it is band clamped on. I will have to have another go at it tomorrow. There was fuel in the line though. I pulled it off the petcock just to see.
