Though I hate to leave it parked in the sun, sometimes I have no choice. I am wondering if the molded in color will fade if it is left out the sun for very long?

No it will not. Buell did extensive testing back in the day, even back when they had painted parts. Good news is the color won't fade, but you will see other wear and tear on it over the years. Because its a molded in color, you can just buff and polish and be back to brand new again : )

The bodywork does polish up great. I had some small scratches on my tank. A little 3m rubbing compound (started with the medium stuff and switched to the light) and my buffer and it buffed to look at good as new, better then I expected!
