I just purchased a 2000 Blast from a friend who had it sitting for a few years. It only has 1600 miles and so far the battery, spark plug, and oil has been changed. I can get it to start, but if I try to leave it running idle and do not give it gas, it stalls. Any suggestions? This is my first bike, so I am new to all of this! Any help is appreciated!}

Is it old gas in the tank as well? Topped off? (I'd drain before topping off).

Maybe dirt/gummed up carb? May need to be taken apart and cleaned well. Evaporating fuel becomes gummy.

Agreed. Old gas and gummed up carb. You could try draining the old fuel, and put in fresh fuel with a little sea foam. Sometimes the sea foam does the trick. If not, you're going to need to disassemble the carb for a good cleaning.

Thank you both so much! The carb was my guess, but with being new to this I was not sure! We had the tank drained and put new gas/carb cleaner in there...I guess its off to the dealership to have the carb cleaned! Thanks again!}

Post up when you get the bike back and let us know what they did.

My 2001 blast was having the exact same issues towards the end of last riding season. I'm curious if you've fixed yours and what the problem was. Next ridding season is still far off up here in Alaska, but I want my bike running smooth when it comes!
