I'm a newby, just bought a firebolt, and am trying to clean and shine it. Can I use regular car wax on the body and buff it in? I ask cause I know its not paint it molded in and I dont want to ruin or fade the color. What works for you cleaning wise?

Car waxes that are pure wax and don't contain abrasives are generally OK. But a cleaner/wax might have some kind of abrasive that can remove the harder outer coating and expose the softer inner layer which would, from that point on, need continual periodic cleaning/waxing.

But there are several types of cleaner/detailer sprays for show cars that'll work great leaving the finish clean and shiny without damaging it.

Use a plastic-specific shining agent. I use Plexus. It completely transforms my bike, making it look brand new every time I clean it. It might help if I didn't let it get so dirty though.

I only use Original Bike Spirits
You can use this on all of the plastic stuff and metal also. It is amazing!
You should only use cleaning and wiping cloth called MicroFiber cleaning towels. I get my towels at walmart in the automotive department. You have to keep the towels CLEAN or they will scratch from getting dirt/sand in them. I get the O.B.S. at motorcycle dealers ie Honda. Comes in a large spray can the can is pink and black.

I was skeptical at first but I am a believer in this product.
It will take off dried bugs, tar, road grime without washing and if you use the correct towel it will not scratch.
I very rarely have to go to the car wash unless I get caught in the rain.
