I need to replace bent and broken forks and lower triple on my XB9R. Will the forks and lower triple off of an '07XB12Ss fit? Is there any negative to going to the larger diameter forks (clearance, etc), or will it bolt right up? I assume going to the larger should be a positive (stiffer). Is the lower triple the same, or different, because I think the Ss has a different rake?
Any help appreciated.

The 07 XB12SS uses the same forks as the 05+ Firebolt, so that won't be an issue. The issue you will have though is that the SS uses the same trees as the Uly, which rake it out a bit. If you are fine with the slight increase in rake, you can use the SS lower tree. I am not sure if it will work with your 03 Firebolt upper.

Thanks, I don't really want to mess with the angles of the setup.
But...It looks like the forks and lower triple from a newer XB12R are about the same price as the smaller ones on my '03XB9R (Buellster.com prices). Which would you put on, original or "upgraded"?

The 43mm forks will fit the 41mm trees if you use some elbow grease, but if you can get 43mm forks and 43mm trees you will be good to go.

Also, avoid Buellster, most of the parts are off wrecked bikes, you have no idea whether the parts are damaged or not. Their pricing is terrible too, with many parts at or above new retail price.

You can probably find what you want in the classifieds on here.

I'm gathering as much as I can off of BWB, and there have been a lot of helpful folks so far. I'm having trouble finding a set of good used forks and a lower triple, though. I'd really like a set off of a low or Scg bike, but they seem to be even more scarce.
Anyone have any? I also have an ad in parts wanted, but I'm sure not everyone reads that.
Thanks.

The SCG uses the exact same 41mm tree as the normal height 03-04 XB.

Looking on ebay, there is a nice set of 47mm forks with trees of an 1125R for $399. You still would need a different lower tree, but it would be a nice suspension upgrade for you. I am running 1125R forks on my XB, I love them : )

I had a head-on and bent the upper triple and broke the lower in two. The fork tubes are just barely bent (I think). I already got the upper triple off another badwebber, but still need the lower and the tubes. That's why I can go either 41mm standard, 41mm low, or go up to 43mm. I wish I would have known the 1125's would fit before I bought the upper triple and bars---that would've been nice.

I was in the same situation after hitting a car, and bought an entire 43mm front end, but then found the 1125r front end so I bought that and resold the 43mm stuff. There is a market out there for the parts.

(Love the profile pic : ) )
