I get ready for my ride into work and notice a clicking sound from the rear wheel bearings while pushing my bike around. I recognize the sound and so I know one of the rears is going to fail and I need to fix it before I ride it.

I took the rear wheel off and drop it off at the dealership and they confirm that the bearing is bad of course, but what's interesting is they discovered that the rear wheel itself is out of spec. Not worn but somehow not machined quite the same as what they normally are. The rear belt side was replaced by another dealer about 5K ago, so I thought it strange that it would crap out so quickly with the "newest-bestest" bearing.

Anyway, they think the rear wheel might have come from the factory being defective. The bad part is I'm out of warranty and will have to wait two weeks for the wheel. The cool part is that the dealership/HD is going to pay for it. Beats the hell out of having to buy a new wheel at $300+ pretty cool of them.

Last Weekend I heard the same clicking sound from my rear wheel of my 1125r. I stopped to inspect and discovered my entire rear bearing was blown out. Not a complete fail but the casing was separated and shards of ball bearings were coming out. I took it in the Harley shop. They replaced it for a small deductible.

Pully side for me today too.... It was making this weird nails on a chalkboard sound I had to inspect it. That's when I saw the axle and said... wait that doesn't look right!

Sweet! Destination HD got my wheel for me. All loaded up with 3 wheel bearings. Yep, it's one of the newer ones. Yay!
