Can you help? Just completed a complete top end overhaul on my 99 s3t, jugs, pistons and heads. Now went for a ride, maybe 5 miles and its running rich. It sputters and pops a bit until around 3500 the its turbo time! Smooths out after 3500. Pulled the plugs and they were black. I checked the easy stuff plugs, harness connections.Battery will lose voltage after 3 to 4 days. But at 12.8v and running over 13v right know. Could this be an issue? Engine light does not show codes. Anyone have a idea? Thanks |

Trouble at lower engine speeds can indicate TPS issues. Be sure your TPS rezero/reset was sound and performed precisely as required. |

This sounds similar to my saga...I am going to check the ecm ground tonight. I believe all the sensors and the ecm share a common ground path. Can some one confirm where this is? |

any instructions on tps zeroing? never removed it from throttle body, guess it doesn't matter? dang i miss carburetors. i do thank you for any advise, was told ecm might need to remap and a 5 mile drive at around 3500 rpm might do it, it didn't. |

did some checking, found that the engine temp sender is located in a different spot on the new head. 99 they're on the side, newer are in the middle. would this be causing problem? |

They engine temp sensor was moved as a running change on the 2000 models. My 2000 S3 came with the ETS outboard on the head. When I put new heads on it the sensor had been moved to the "tunnel' deep in the head. Then when I replaced it, the newest iteration had a duetch connector vs. A straight bullet connector. How? What? When? Where? Can I get a disc? Of course I'd cover cost of disc and shipping. |

Well, actually the program itself is free but you need a cable ($40-$60) to connect your laptop to the ECM. A lot of folks got the program disc when they bought the cable off e-bay. I also remember a site (other than the ECMSPY site) where the program was still available for download. I'll look for it. If all those options fail, drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do... |

I bought the cable on e-bay, and the guy selling them sent me the software. If you own a fuel injected buell, you need this software. Here is a link to some sellers (I cant vouch for these guys directly ) http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=ecm+spy&_s acat=6028&_sop=7&_odkw=Buell&_osacat=6028&bkBtn=&_ trksid=p4506.m270.l1313 |

Dudes! thanks ever so much! I'm on it. Canceled dealer appointment, ordered cable. Never had this trouble with xb, but these tubers are worth it. |

While waiting for the cable, I suggest you go to the ECMSPY website, download the Tuning Guide and familiarize yourself with the tool before you dive into it. Hopefully all you'll need to do is a TPS reset and the directions for that are spelled out really well in the Tuning Guide. All the best. |
