S1 and S3 front fenders along with probably the X1 front fender are probably interchangeable... The flyscreen I think is different from an X1, but I'm not sure. But I really don't know any of the above for sure so you better wair for a more definite answer. Sorry. | ||

The best fender IMO is the S2 fender. It's a little swoopier and more aerodynamic than the S3 fender. Speaking of tail sections...a Ducati rider asked me today how I chopped the seat on my S1...he seemed surprised that a seat that small is stock. I really like the Monster tailsection...that'd be an awesome swap if you could tailor it to suit. | ||

The S2s actually had a couple different fenders. And '97/'98 S3 fenders are different than '99 and up S3 fenders. DAve | ||

I have just had a 95 S2 painted yellow over top of the stock red bodywork. One month after, bubbles started appearing. The bike resides near the ocean and the salt air could have possibly caused this by absorbing into the fiberglass. The bubbles are between the stock factory primer and the fiberglass, underneath the factory paint. Has anyone seen this before on S2's? | ||

Was there any problems with the original paint bubbling? I've seen a number of S2s (mine included) that had "S2 pox" Small bisters on the paint that erupt. I have no idea how to address something like that. DAve | ||

Dave, the original paint was fine, no blisters. Only soon after we painted it this occured. The painter believes that the fresh paint could'nt have caused this. I have painted many S2's including my own and have not seen this. I have seen decals blister on the plastic fuel tanks, but not on fiberglass. Seems strange that after 8 years this happens.  This is the S2 Pox. I got with a Buell employee about this a year or so ago over this paint and some markings under the tank cover. What I understood from him is that the fiberglass and resin was not a static formula/process during the two year S2 run. It did change in attempts to cure quicker, better, quality, etc. I'm thinking maybe you just happened to paint some body work from a slow cure (no cure) era. Hi Dave, looks like you painted your S2 orange, but in your profile it looks red. If so, did it blister after it was painted. S2 bodywork is difficult to get, I'm afraid if I repaint it, more blisters could show up later. I'm considering sealing the underside of the fiberglass. | ||

Nahhh that's the original body work in Snap Red. The digital camera in bright sunlight was a bit overloaded I guess. That is the original paint and body work that bubbled. Buell still has S2 body work except for the front fender last time I checked. If ya order the p/n for an S2 fender you'll get a 99-02 S3 plastic fender. Keep that old stuff. DAve | ||

Which Chin Spoiler will fit on a 96'S1?If any. What's been called a "Belly Pan"? Is It another under piece that covers the suspension? The different pieces may both fit my S1. Id like to know more about which name to call them. Johnny | ||

Johnny, The X1 "chin spoilers" will fit your S1. Belly pans are a little different. You'll see a lot of the racers that run them (some have to) to catch fluids, etc. Lee | ||

Can anyone help me? I'm suffering terribly from wind. Not the type associated with seasonal vegetables, fortunately. The thing is, now I'm riding around in bulky winter gear I find the screen on my S3T just doesn't keep the wind off my shoulders. In the summer I can tear along at 95mph no problem; now even a couple of hours at 80mph leave me aching. What I think I need is a flip up screen, but I can't find anyone who makes them. Does anyone know of anybody who makes or sells such a thing for the S3T? | ||

Thunder....Have you tried the Zero Gravity screen? They're slightly taller than the stock for more wind protection. I like the way mine looks and works. In addition, you can add some rubber stripping (can't think of what it's exactly called) to the upper edge of your screen. I haven't tried this method but I know other Buell riders that have had good results. Good luck!! | ||

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere here.. But, does anyone know the actual weight difference between the Buell offered carbon fiber parts and the stock plastic ones? While I think the parts look pretty good, is the savings in weight (and addition to overall performance/handling) worth all those $$$$'s? Later. | ||

I have a 96 S1, I need to ride two up. I saw some pictures of what I believe was an S1 with an X1 tail on it? Anyone know anything about this. I don't like the look of the X1 tail better then the S1, but corbin doesnt make a gf & lady seat with a back rest for an S1 Lighting, where they do for the x1. Any info would be great, or if someone is looking to get rid of a twin tail cheap. | ||

Powder coat question: Does anyone know if you can have just a portion of a frame powder coated? There is some paint damage on the right side down tube on the S1 frame I purchased. The company that does the powder coating for Buell is only about 1hr from my house. I also sent an email out to them. | ||

How to stop a blistering tank. Here's a couple of rambling thoughts on the subject.... Most professional painters of new metal parts would put down a layer of Bondo to get a smooth consistant surface. Why not to this to a Buell tank? Would that help prevent the vapors that seep into the paint? If not that, what about a shot of Rynoliner or similar waterproofing? Just some food for thought. | ||

I'm re-painting the fueltank and I'm aiming on getting rid of the crappy plastic Buell logo. So I basically need a "painting template" to recreate the logo on the tank. Does anyone have a scalable, vectorized Buell logo, with good enough resolution, lying around in the hard-drive? I don't care about the "american motorcycle" part, just Buell will work fine! Don't use vinyl stickers and don't store fuel for long periods of time in the tank. This will help prevent lifting of the finish. |
