It seems no one has any particular ideas on how to solve the problem of powering the Buell heated hand grips on a 2007 XB. (See http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/549278.html?1269412968)

Perhaps someone would be willing to look at their 2008+ wiring diagram and tell me how the official auxiliary/accessory plug that the grips are meant to be hooked into is wired into the rest of the electrical system? Even better would be if someone has a picture that they could post/send of the set-up. Better still would be advice from someone else who has done this (I can't be the only one).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is not an AUX power plug behind the flyscreen like on the 2008 and newer models.
I ran into this problem when I installed heated grips on my 2006 XB12SS.
I ran a fused hot wire, from my fusebox, up under the airbox, to the flyscreen.
I ran it from my accessory fuse, So it will power on and off with the ignition, and fused the inline fuse at 5 amps, so it will blow before the ACC fuse if a problem arises.
There is an extra plug on the hand grips wiring, (this is to allow you to still use other devices with the AUX plug) I clipped it off, and spliced it to my hot wire, and ran a ground to the frame.
This allowed me to just plug the hand grips into it without a problem...

Inline fuse: Walmart = $2.59
6' red 14AWG wire: Free from work
2' green 14AWG wire: Free from work
2 - 14AWG butt splices: Fry's electronics = $.89
Electrical tape: Free from work

If ya still need pics, PM me, and I'll email you some of my installation.

Bartimus---Good call on running it from the auxiliary fuse. Makes WAY more sense than straight from the battery.

Al_lighton---Thanks for the diagram. When I get my bike out of storage next week I'll open her up and use schematic as the base of my fix.
