anyone ever tried those little mini "steam" cleaners sold on T.V. as kitchen/bathroom/grout cleaners to degrease hard to reach places on your bike? Was wondering if they are powerful enough and have a concentrated spray pattern. Anyone? Anyone?

I bought one specifically for that purpose. It didn't really work all that well. VERY small spots of dirt would come off.

What I did find that worked well was to give it a really good cleaning with soap and brush, let dry, then spray with Armor All. The engine is powder coated, which is plastic, so the Armor All shouldn't hurt it like it might if it were paint. It leaves a shiny black finish, even when dry. And it helps to keep dirt etc. from sticking again once applied. YMMV, but I have had good luck with this method. Even if the case has a bit of dinge after it is dry, you know, that dirt that just won't come off no matter how clean it looks when it is wet, it ends up looking really good, and quite clean after application of the Armor All, even after the Armor All has dried. Holds up to a few washings too.
