i plan to order a new oil pump for a '05 engine. I read somewhere what oil pumps have been upgraded since '07. If it is right need i order a pump for a 05 or for a 07 to have the latest version. If i order a 05 one i think i can have the latest revision, if i order a 07 perhaps this is fitted with new fittings not matching my oil line.

There was a stealth update, but I am not sure the year. There was a major change in 08 or 09, when the cam cover changed. Your 05 would benefit from the "drop in" new oil pump, and the fancy new pinion gear.

Sorry I don't have more specific info... I have a new (used) updated oil pump and drive gear sitting out in the garage waiting to go in my 05 XB9SX... so I knew once but forget now. It's been sitting out there for about a year. If nobody chimes in or you can't find it in the archives, I can try and dig up old notes or look for a part number on the pump...

perhaps the update is just from XL engines like X1-M2 to the xb platform ?

There was definately a part number and construction change post 2005. If you search the archives, I think somebody posted fairly detailed pictures showing some substantially updated parts. Then like 1 or 2 years later (really quick), they revised the whole system on the Buells and its the cam cover integrated pump.

There was a change to the oil pump in 2007, the pump assy is backward compatible - details are covered in this link to an old post:

Let me know if they are, I have that pump sitting out on a shelf in the garage, and don't have any fittings with it : ).

Thanks for hunting that up Rays! Great info!

Does anybody know for sure the part # for the '07 upgraded oil pump? Is it #26357-08? Is this the one with the upgraded oil scavenge? How does it compare to the #26357-02B? Thanks

I'm not talking about the drive gear. I'm talking about the pump itself.http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442728.html
In Rays link it shows the larger scaveng gearotors but doesn't give which part # it is in.

So are you saying the 07 xb has the pump with the larger scavenge? I don't want to seem like I'm being picky here but I'm looking for a backup pump in case my 3 stage pro flow pump can't be rebuilt. It's going on a Bonneville motor so wet sumping can be an issue. Thanks to all.
