Hello all, this is my first post on this forum.

Problem:
I'm convinced my problem is heat related. When my bike gets up to temperature and I go for a ride and stop for a short break the bike starts up again sometimes with running problems from poor idle, lumpy, idle cannot stay constant, jumping up and down, squeaks through the airbox, extra exhaust popping and generally runs very flat for a short time afterwards. After a couple of miles or so of gentle riding the bike seems to reset itself and returned back to full health. I've noticed this only happens after short stops up to 50min when the fan has cooled engine. If I stop and the fan has not switched on cause the engine hasn't reached temperature it seems to be fine. This is an intermittent problem but happens frequently.

Background
I bought my bike May 09 new. At about 850 miles I had fitted a Free Spirits complete exhaust system and apart from the extra volume the bike did seem to be a tad flat, probably running lean. At about 1180 miles I had my first service. I collected it went home the long way round everything ok. Next trip the front header pipe vibrated lose and lost the manifold nuts and popped out . Fixed on side of road but upon restarting the bike ran as above and this was the start of my problems. It may well have been coincidence.

Bike has now done 3700 miles with same running problems. stopped off recently ride, 30min later I could hardly keep it running on idle it was so bad, after short ride off bike resumed normal running. My bike can return to running bad and lumpy if caught up in alot of slow moving traffic also - same experience.

I'm a member of UKbeg and have been posting about this for months but no one knows the answer.

Whats I've had done.
1. Initial inspection from HD dealer from where I bough it = no difference.
2. Inspection from 2nd but different HD dealer = no difference.
3. Fitted new air filter + Remus Powerizer = no difference.
4. Changed plugs = no difference.
5. Cleaned earth contact points = no difference.
6. Several TPS resets = no difference.
7. Hard TPS reset = no difference.

Several things have been said from experts to those who know more than myself. I recently contacted Erik Buell racing and told them as I was making an ECU enquiry and told them about my running problems. They told me my bike will never run right with stock ECU.

HD dealers won't take another look at my bike until I remove my exhaust and refit original stock one. I do no believe my exhaust is the problem. Seems to be a heat problem.

I've contacted Special Ops to ask about his Heat Barriers for my bike but 9 days later I havn't had a reply. Been suggested top buy some heat mat to fit underneath the airbox so the engine doesn't heat it up but have yet to find anyone who has fixed similar running problem to mine with a heat barrier fitted?

Samples
This was captured after a TPS Hard Reset so it may not be a fair comparison but the symptons are the same when I experience this problem.

This next one is a longer clip but has a varied amount of poor running through the 3min and it did cut out.

There is a guy in the UK with the same problem. Log some data without the Powerizer and I will fix it for you...
