So last april i laid my bike over. After i got it home, i tried to start it and got nothing. I figured i'd deal with it another day. well today i finished the body work and primer and i figured i'd try to start it. When i try to turn it over, i get nothing. No noise no nothing. The lights and all that work, it just wont start. Is there something that i can look for that might fix this?

Ok you turn the key on, the lights come on. Good. Turn the kill switch to run, does the check engine light come on? Do you hear the fuel pump prime? When you push the start, you get no changes at all, no clicks, headlights go out or anything similar?
Check all the fuses and relays up in the front fairing. For the relays, try swapping them around. |

When i turn the kill switch on, the engine light doesn't come on and i don't hear the fuel pump. And ya, no clicks or anything.
I checked all the fuses and they're good and i switched a couple relays.
I remembered too that when i was riding it, the neutral light wouldn't come on when it wasn't in gear. I don't know if that might have something to do with it. Maybe its not registering that its out of gear? But even with the clutch held in, still nothing. |

There are 2 ground points on the frame, I believe. Make sure the wires going to them have a good clean connection.
There is a small blade contact connector on the right of the Starter Solenoid. Make sure that is connected. It goes to the Start Relay.
When you laid the bike down, did the handlebars get messed up? I'm thinking some wires may have shorted or pulled out of their contacts.
There is a Key Switch Relay that energizes when the key is turned to the "On" position. Check if you can hear this relay click when you turn the key to the On position.
-- If not, then there is likely a wiring issue between the Ignition Switch (where you put the key) and the Key Switch Relay.
-- If yes, then there is likely a wiring issue between this relay and the Ignition Relay; further troubleshooting steps to follow... |

Ya, the throttle handlebar got bent pretty good. When i replaced it i made sure the wires were all hooked up before i put it back on.
And no, i don't hear anything when i turn the key on. Just try and follow the wires from the ignition switch to the relay? |

Following the wires is a good start. Look for any wire that may have pulled out of its contact or broke in the harness.
If you have a VOM, available at Radio Shack or neighborhood hardware store, there are a few critical voltage measurements that would help to pinpoint where the failure is. That's what we can help with if you don't have the Factory Service Manual for your bike. |

OK, let's verify proper voltage at the Key Switch relay.
-- Go to the Relay Cluster on the fairing and pull the Key Switch relay. Look for terminal 30.
-- Set VOM on DC Volts scale to read battery voltage,
-- put + lead on terminal 30, - lead on engine ground (leave it there for the following tests); read battery voltage approx 12 VDC (This is voltage from the Main Fuse).
--- If no, battery voltage is not getting to switchable contacts of Key Switch relay. Check the red wire from terminal 30 to the Main Fuse; check Main Fuse.
--- If yes, that's nominal. Continue with next step.
-- Put + lead on terminal 86, turn Ignition Switch to On position; read battery voltage.
--- If no, battery voltage is not getting to the Key Switch relay coil. Check Key Switch fuse. Check the red wire from Key Switch fuse to Ignition Switch. Check the red/black wire from Ignition Switch to Key Switch relay coil terminal 86.
--- If yes, that's nominal. Further troubleshooting steps to follow... |
