I looked through the old threads and i havent seen anything about putting a xb9 piston under a lightning head. Im assuming this is because the dome is too high. I have read about buying aftermarket pistons with the 10 degree dome but was wondering if the 9 piston is workable. I know the xb heads are the way to go and plan on doing them in the near future. I had broke the front motor mounts on my lightning heads and found a used set for a price i could not refuse. I was just wondering if anyone knows about this interchangeablilty. | ||

interesting Q, i would like to know is it possible to up the compression ratio by putting XB9/12 pistons with thunderstorm heads??? i am looking for 10.5/11 to 1, probably not but got to ask  | ||

XB9 pistons use a dome for bathtub chambers. It will not work with T-storm or Lightning heads as they use a round shaped dome with an angled squish. Sorry no go. | ||

whats the degree on the 9 pistons squish? Can you turn the lightning head in the lathe and put a matching angled squish in or wil compression ratios be through the roof | ||

XB9 pistons DO NOT have an angled squish they have a reverse bathtub dome. It cannot be done with stock XB9 pistons. Stop trying to re-invent the wheel and just get a set of pistons designed for lightning or t-storm heads depending on what you have. Any of the major shops that sell 1250 kits have pistons you will need. (Message edited by queenofspeed on January 14, 2010) |
