Like many others, I need to rebuild the Showa rear shock on my 2001 M2. RaceTech offers a seal kit, but they haven't responded to my emails for technical help. Has anyone used this kit and done a rebuild themselves. I think I can handle the rebuild, but am wondering if these are gas-filled and how one goes about re-gassing them, so to speak. Any advice on the rebuild itself will also be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! Rick

There is an extensive thread in the KV on the topic complete with photos.
Sorry, I don't have the link here at work.
Just do a search in the KV.

Saw that and maybe I read it too quickly, but didn't see anything about re-gassing the shock. Moreover, it seemed to be the recall rebuild on the old shocks; I just need to replace the seal, oil and (if applicable) gas on the newer style (post-recall) Showa shocks.

Is this the same thing you saw?
This is for the recall shock.
Don't even bother with the pre recall versions..

Thanks, Brad! I missed this one (saw the one after it though). I still don't see how the nitrogen gets recharged, but I'll study this further in more detail and order the kit to give it a try myself. Thanks!

Steve,
That's not quite accurate.
All recall replacment shocks had a remote reservoir. The original shock did not.
The M2's in 2001 and 2002 had the new style shock stock from the factory.
