Why is life not easy? I drove an 1125cr at a dealers and liked it so much that I ordered one ( knew I would) When the bike arrived this week it had the clubman’s bars that I do not like. Apart from the wrangle with the dealer, because at no point was it explained to me that the bike I rode had different bars the one I was buying nor was there any mention of 2009 model as opposed to 2010 model that I assumed I was buying. It looks like I will end up changing them myself: does anyone know what parts are involved? The handlebars and both hydraulic lines need to be changed; my friendly money grabbing salesman says the wiring loom and throttle cables also need changing. Would appreciate advice from anyone who has done it or really knows.  | ||

There is a kit on Buell.com that contains all the cables, bars, zip ties, and instructions. (You need to supply your own brake fluid). It isn't an easy swap, it will take a good afternoon to do, and if you don't do it 100% right, the throttle cables will bind. It requires bleeding the clutch and brake lines too. I had to do similar with my bike, the dealer installed the upright bars thinking I would want them, they ruin the riding experience and make highway riding awkward and uncomfortable. I found a local rider that had the clubmans and we spent the afternoon swapping the parts back and forth. (Message edited by froggy on January 06, 2010) |
