So I bought my first bike. Buell xb9s. First few weeks on it, it ran perfect. After that, it will intermittently run horribly. It will start acting as if the gas is being randomly cut off. At take off, no response to throttle twist, then will almost take off right out from under me. Initially, we thought fouled plug. Replaced the plugs, ran like a scalded dog for two days, but now it is worse than ever with the spitting and sputtering. It is constant. Even in neutral, I try to hold it at 2000, and it jumps +/- 500 rpm's. It is obviously running rich, I can smell it, but I am no mechanic. Please help, as I DO NOT want to take it the local dealer/school for the mentally challenged. The confusing part is that this is not happening all the time. K&N filter, Aftermarket exhaust, Buell race ECM, Dobeck performance TFI unit.

Im betting you need to take that dobeck unit off and run the regular race ECM for a bit.

let the race ECm learn and see how she does...

ditch the Dobeck unit. then do a tps reset.

also dont twist the throttle while starting the bike. it can throw the tps outa wack.

Race ECM and Dobeck fuel fooler seems like a bad combination. I say ditch it too. Or at least turn the dials back to #1 like the instructions say to bypass the TFI.

Ok. Thanks for the input. I'll try that. I can simply "unplug" the unit and the ecm will adjust?

I took a look at the website for it, it looks like a ton of wires. I would yank out the whole thing rather than leaving it partly connected.

Pulling the Dobeck out only takes about 20 minutes so not a big task. I could probably do it in 15 now that I've done it once.
