I was thinking the other day of having my muff jet hotted silver but seeing as that takes a few days and that my 09 XB12Scg IS my transportation, would it hurt the engine any to run it open headers for a couple days? I'd only be riding it to and from work so its not like Im heading out to the track.

It will run VERY lean, not to mention that you will be sending extremely hot gasses right down onto the front of your engine. I wouldn't do it.

I think I would wait until I found a decent used muffler so that I wouldn't have to tune the ECM and fry the engine too. Maybe someone will loan you a muffler, might be worth asking down in the classifieds.

It would also be damn loud.
