I installed a hid conversion kit on my xb12 today. I was concerned about wearing out ballasts at startup, so I ran the low beam power to ballast through a DEI 611t timed relay, set to about 30 seconds delay. I was expecting a very hard time fitting everything behind the fly screen area, and setting up the 611t. It went together in about an hour, and works great so far. I went with a 35 watt, h7 kit, in 5000k color, my lights are at least 2x as good at lighting the road, only went for a 30 minute ride, no one flashed brights at me, with the low beams only on. so at 70 watts of hid, I have more light now, than I had with 210 watts of halogen (includes 2 50 watt halogen driving lights, which I have now removed. I'll just have to see if they last now.
