I'm 5' 7" with short arms, and I look like I'm riding a rocket on my 02 X1. I thought I heard somewhere of swapping the S3T bars on, and maybe using longer cables?? I need them higher, so they can come back a little bit without hitting the tank cover. I would like to keep the approximate hand position and angle of the stock bars, just closer to me. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Chad

Get some risers from American Sport Bike, S3T bars are 1-3/4" taller but won't work on the X1 because the clutch cable will won't clear the tach.

Wow, good heads up. I wouldn't have thought of the clutch cable clearance. Since the gauges will also be moved up with the risers, do you need to modify the wind screen mounts at all?

Thanks for the help,
Chad

Ive got a S3T touring bar setup on my 00 Cyclone. I like it, It works well, however, if you do deside to put them on be warned that the move them up and in. In other words your hands will be closer together. It doesnt sound like thats what your looking for. I had the dealer put them on at the time, Im pretty sure that no cables were replaced. Still good clearance on my bike between the bars and the tank locking left to right.

Jramsey: I am thinking of leaning them way back, just enough so they don't hit the tank lock to lock, do you think that would help the tach clearance at all?

Cyclone00: how much closer do you think the stance is? Did it affect your riding style enough to be irritated?

Thanks guys,
Chad
