I have a 2000 X1 that I recently had rebuilt. I put new SS rings back in as apposed to the stock rings, but this shouldnt have to do with my problem. The bike ran like a million bucks for a couple weeks then it began to start real hard. Now, a few weeks later, the bike has a hard time starting and will foul only the front cylinder until you get up and going. Also, when i pull in on the clutch the RPM's drop down to about 2k then stay for a split second. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Also, once i start to drive the check engine light comes on which i assume is because the O2 Sensor is setting it off. After i get the bike running down the road the problems subside and the light turns off.

You need to read the trouble code to get an accurate root cause. If you don't have ECMSPY, do a search and find the process of reading the code by rigging up the ECM connector and count the number of blinking lights on the CEL, etc.

What would i rig the ECM with in order to read the code? and what is the CEL?

You need a short length of wire to connect to two of the four holes in the ecm diagnostic plug.
Not sure where it is on your model but it is a square connector with a square black rubber plug in the end of it.
You will be able to find which of the four holes to place the wire in to get your CEL(check engine light) to flash in sequence.
The number and frequency of the flashes will tell you which component is at fault.

On an '00 X1 the ECM plug is on the right front side of the bike between the tank and the frame. Turn the handle bar to the left and look just under the front right side corner of the tank and you should be able to see the black plastic cap.
I've never had to "rig" the plug to read the codes since I have ECMSPY but I am sure I have seen it mentioned here before. It is also mentioned in the shop manual.

Where can I buy an ECMSPY?

The program used to be available for free but the site is now closed. Most people who sell the cable (to connect the PC to the bike ECU) also give the program along with it. Check e-bay for the ECMSPY cable and see what you come up with. If you can't find the program anywhere else, someone here may be able to help you out.
