New 09 Uly, had it 1 week put about 400+ miles on it. Rode 230 miles Sunday Am, came home and cut it off in the drive and pushed it into the garage - seemed to be heavy, but its a little uphill and I was hot.
Changed clothes and went back out to check the oil, looking around the bike for leaks, loose parts etc. saw some grease smear on the right side of the axle with some stripes in it (see pic).
I can't think of anything that it could be but a seized bearing - is there supposed to be a spacer on that side of the axle?
The dealer is about 60 miles away, I don't have a trailer and am not sure about riding it there if the bearing is bad.

Any ideas about what else it might be?
Right side rear axle.

Hrmmm, mine looks the axact same way.08 uly about 4500 miles. Would be curious to what is making this pattern. ON a good note mine has always looked like this and I just ride it so I would say you would definately be able to make it to the dealer.Let me know what they say if you should so happen to do so.

That spiral mark is from installing the axle. The axle is coated with anti-seize compound, inserted through the right side of the swing arm, through the wheel, and then threaded into the left side of the swing arm. The marks are made in the grease by threading the axle into the swing arm.

This is normal.
